CELTIC Under-20s fell to their first reversal of the season against Partick Thistle after a frustrating evening at Firhill. Caolan McAleer's early strike for the Jags proved to be difference between the sides as the young Hoops were foiled in their efforts of a way back into the contest by a stubborn home defence.

Youths return to winning ways in league
CELTIC'S Under-20s returned to winning ways in the league with a 2-1 victory and an excellent performance against Kilmarnock at Cappielow. John Herron opened the scoring shortly after the start of the second half, before Denny Johnstone double the Hoops' advantage. Rory McKenzie pulled one back for the visitors but it wasn’t enough to find a share of the spoils.

Youths start cup defence with victory
CELTIC´S Under-20s started their defence of the Scottish Youth Cup with a resounding 4-0 win at home to Stenhousemuir. After dominating the opening spells, they eventually found the break through after half time, and it was goals from John Herron, Paul George, Paul McMullan and Jamie Lindsay that sealed the win. The visitors were reduced to 10-men inside the closing stages after Ciaran Summers was shown a second yellow, and their misery was compounded inside stoppage time when Leo Fasan saved Paul Brennan´s penalty.

Five-star young Celts sparkle at Fir Park
CELTIC Under-20s were in red-hot form at a freezing Fir Park, sweeping aside their Motherwell counterparts 5-0 to extend their winning streak in the league to four games. Amido Balde and Bahurdin Atajic put the young Hoops in charge before the break, and Jamie Lindsay´s spectacular strike from distance gave them a three-goal cushion midway through the second half. Substitute Denny Johnstone bagged a late brace as the visitors completed their highest scoring victory of the season, ensuring they will go into next week´s UEFA Youth League contest with Milan brimming with confidence.

CELTIC Under-20s relinquished their long-held grip on the SFA Youth Cup after a disappointing 3-1 defeat away to St Johnstone in the fourth round. Chris Kane headed the hosts in front in the 58th minute, and although Paul McMullan restored parity with seven minutes remaining, Scott Taylor-Mackenzie struck a quick-fire double to seal the youths' fate.

Atajic seals victory for young Hoops
BAHRUDIN Atajic snatched all three points for Celtic´s Under-20s away to Falkirk in the league. Liam Henderson and Denny Johnstone put the young Hoops ahead in the first half but the home side responded with two goals early after the break, the first from Lewis Small before Luke Leahy converted a penalty. Atajic´s strike sealed the points 17 minutes from the end.

Disappointing defeat for young Hoops
CELTIC´S Under-20 side slumped to a disappointing 3-1 defeat at home to Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the league despite coming back into the game midway through the second half. The Hoops worked hard to recover from Ally Sutherland´s opening strike 21 seconds into proceedings, and then a second from Ryan Christie, but Denny Johnstone´s goal on 64 minutes wasn´t enough to turn the match around. Connor Evans then sunk the Bhoys with a third in the closing stages to mark the Hoops´ first defeat in the league in over three months.

Young Hoops prove too strong for Hamilton
A STRONG and dominant young Hoops side beat Hamilton Accies 3-1 away from home in their first run out of 2014. Andy Ryan missed a penalty for the home side after just 15 minutes, and Celtic were reduced to 10-men with half an hour remaining when Stuart Findlay was shown a straight red card. But the visitors remained in control, and goals from Luke Donnelly, Joe Thomson and a penalty from Patrik Twardzik sealed all three points.

A second-half penalty from Nicky Low sealed the points for Aberdeen as Celtic´s Under-20s lost 2-1 at a rain-soaked Cappielow. Patrik Twardzik had put the young Hoops ahead on 29 minutes but Declan McManus struck an equaliser shortly before half-time before Low tucked away the winning penalty.

JOHN Herron´s second-half brace helped Celtic Under-20s to a thumping 4-0 victory over Partick Thistle at Lennoxtown. The young Hoops, who included new signing Leigh Griffiths in the starting XI, opened the scoring through fellow January recruit Holmbert Fridjonsson. Substitute Patrik Twardzik converted from the penalty spot six minutes after the restart following a foul in the box on Eoghan O´Connell. Herron then grabbed his first with a sublime strike with the outside of his foot which nested in the far corner. And the young midfielder wrapped up the points in the closing stages after Fridjonsson´s unselfish pass left him with a simple finish.
