Young Celts sparkle in five-star showing
CELTIC Under-20s made it six wins on the spin and notched up their sixth successive clean sheet after a resounding 5-0 victory over Ross County at Cappielow. Eoghan O´Connell´s header and an own goal from Ross MacKillop had the hosts in charge by the quarter-hour mark. And when County´s Alex Cooper earned a straight red card for a poor challenge on Filip Twardzik in the 18th minute, the young Hoops never looked like surrending their control on proceedings. In front of the watching Neil Lennon, the youths produced some sparkling passages of play and Filip Twardzik, Fiacre Kelleher and substitute Connor McLaren completed the rout in the second half.
Denied the services of a number of players due to international call-ups, John Kennedy and Stevie Frail´s side had been boosted by the inclusion of top-team duo Beram Kayal and Derk Boerrigter.

Young Celts' winning run comes to an end
TEN-MAN Celtic Under-20s went down 1-0 to Hibernian in Livingston, the result ending their six-game winning streak in the league. Jason Cummings scored the decisive goal in the first half, picking his spot with a low shot after fastening onto a long clearance. The young Hoops rallied after the break but faced an uphill struggle when Darnell Fisher saw red for a late challenge in the 63rd minute. Nonetheless, they continued to pour forward and create chances but couldn´t muster up an equaliser as Hibs survived some late pressure.

Brilliant Bhoys edge five-goal thriller
TEN-MAN Celtic Under-20s produced a brilliant battling display to come from behind and edge a five-goal thriller at Cappielow, preserving their place at the league summit. The young Hoops were forced to play nearly all the game with a man disadvantage after Eoghan O’Connell’s early sending off. And it looked like the odds were stacked against them when they found themselves trailing to Jack Baird’s deflected shot. However, they rallied superbly to take the lead before half-time through goals from Patrik Twardzik and Holmbert Fridjonsson. Although the Saints restored parity with a Mark Barrowman header, John Herron secured a memorable win for the Bhoys as the clock ticked down.

CELTIC Under-20s suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat away to Dunfermline, with Robert Thomson’s first-half strike proving decisive in a fiercely-fought contest. The striker pounced quickly in the box after Leo Fasan failed to gather a long ball into the box when under pressure from Allan Smith. Although Stevie Frail and John Kennedy’s youngsters dominated much of the second half, they couldn´t muster an equaliser to leave East End Park with no reward.

Impressive Celtic win Under-20 derby
CELTIC Under-20s took a massive stride towards retaining their league title with an impressive 2-0 victory over Rangers at Murray Park tonight (Monday). It’s a result that puts the Hoops back at the top of the table. Goals from Conor McManus and Joe Thomson gave the Hoops a thoroughly deserved victory in a match that they dominated throughout, with Paul McMullan amongst a number of star performers for Stevie Frail and John Kennedy’s side.

DENNY Johnstone’s hat-trick saw Celtic Under-20s overcome their Motherwell counterparts 3-0 at Lennoxtown and return to the league summit.

The young striker fired home at the second attempt inside the opening 10 minutes and headed in number just beyond the half-hour mark as the young Hoops stamped their authority on proceedings.

He completed his treble when sliding nine minutes after the interval, slotting into the net from Patrik Twardzik’s accurate low cross.

Stevie Frail and John Kennedy’s side now lead Hibernian at the top of the table by one point, having played one game fewer than the Edinburgh side. Both teams will go head-to-head this Thursday at Cappielow.

FIRST-HALF goals from Connor McManus and Liam Henderson saw Celtic Under-20s return to winning ways against their Falkirk counterparts at Cappielow, putting their title challenge back on track. McManus made the breakthrough when his crisp shot from 18 yards took a deflection to deceive goalkeeper Graham Bowman. And Liam Henderson pounced on a rebound to put the young Hoops in command as they dominated the opening 45 minutes.
The Bhoys didn’t manage to achieve those same standards after the interval, with the visitors hitting the woodwork twice as they fought their way back into the contest. However, Stevie Frail and John Kennedy’s youngsters held on for a much-needed three points following successive defeats to Hibernian and Hearts, keeping them hot on the heels of the Easter Road side at the top of the table and ahead of Rangers.

Young Celts triumph in Paisley to preserve title hopes
HOLMBERT Fridjonsson’s second-half strike sealed a priceless 2-1 victory for Celtic Under-20s away to St Mirren to keep their hopes alive of a fifth successive title. The Icelandic striker bulleted home from close range to decide a compelling contest after Thomas Reilly had cancelled out Marcus Fraser’s early header.
And it was well-deserved triumph for Stevie Frail and John Kennedy’s side, who dominated the game after the break and were only denied a bigger margin of victory by the heroics of home goalkeeper Jamie McGowan.
The result leaves the youths two points adrift of Rangers, knowing a victory over their Glasgow rivals next week at Lennoxtown will see them leapfrog the Ibrox side to the league summit.

Glasgow derby delight for young Celts
Second-half goals from Denny Johnstone and John Herron saw Celtic Under-20s deservedly defeat their Rangers counterparts 2-0 at Lennoxtown to keep their hopes alive of a fifth successive title. Johnstone bulleted in a header from Filip Twardzik’s cross to break the deadlock and Herron finished off a sweeping move down the left to put the young Celts in charge. Paul McMullan spurned a golden change for a third as his effort trickled wide, and apart from one goalmouth melee in which Marcus Fraser had to clear off the line, the Bhoys held on comfortably for a priceless three points.
The win puts the young Hoops two points behind their Glasgow rivals, who have no fixtures remaining. And that means a victory over Dundee United on Thursday will see them claim the championship once again.

Change of date for Tannadice Under-20 title showdown
CELTIC’S possible Under-20s’ league clincher against Dundee United at Tannadice has been switched from Thursday to Friday. The game which would seal the title at this level for the fifth time in a row by the Hoops now goes ahead at Tannadice on Friday, May 9 with a 1pm kick-off time. The young Hoops’ 2-0 win over their Ibrox counterparts at Lennoxtown on Tuesday means the ball is now in Celtic’s court and a win on Tayside will tie up the championship.

A 2-0 victory at Tannadice in the final league game of the Under-20 season confirmed Celtic as champions at this level for a fifth consecutive season. It’s a tremendous achievement for Stevie Frail and John Kennedy’s young side and one that is richly deserved. Goals in either half from Jamie Lindsay and Paul McMullan gave Celtic a 2-0 victory on the day against Dundee United, and the three points ensured they finished top of the table.

Am Ende einer doch eher durchwachsenen Saison stand also doch noch der fünfte Meistertitel in Folge, Well done Bhoys!!! Besonders durch die zwei souveränen Siege gegen die Rangers ist das sicher auch verdient und ein Indiz, was für eine tolle Arbeit dort geleistet wird.
