Spiel ging 3-1 an unsere Jungs:

Young Hoops extend lead at top of the table

THE young Hoops extended their lead at the top of the Under-20 Scottish Premier League table, with a 3-0 victory away to Kilmarnock.
The home side opened the scoring with a penalty but Tony Watt responded instantly finding an equaliser at the opposite end. Paul George then put his side into the lead and Bahrudin Atajic added a third to seal the victory midway through the second half.

    Young Hoops draw at Tannadice
CELTIC Under-20s were left to settle for a share of the spoils after drawing one apiece with their Dundee United counterparts at Tannadice. Denny Johnstone fired the young Hoops into the lead in the second half following superb supply work from Liam Henderson.
But the hosts cancelled that strike out four minutes later when a retaken free-kick was stabbed home at the far post.
Despite the draw, the youngsters maintain their 10-point advantage at the league summit.

Forrest leads the way for Celtic Youth Academy Bhoys

THROUGHOUT Neil Lennon’s tenure as Celtic manager, he has given a number of Youth Academy players their first-team debuts.
James Forrest is, of course, the most recent and successful Academy graduate to date, and he played his part in Celtic’s UEFA Champions League last 16 ties with Juventus.
There are a host of talented young players working their way through the ranks just now, hoping to make it into the first-team. Here we look at the teenagers who have come from the Youth Academy and made their competitive bows since Neil Lennon took the reins at Celtic.

    JAMES FORREST
    May 1, 2010
    SPL
    CELTIC 4 (McGeady 48, O´Dea 78, Forrest 87, Keane 90)
    MOTHERWELL 0
Due to a blistering run of form at youth level, James Forrest was quickly advanced through the ranks until he was knocking on the first team door at the age of 18. When Neil Lennon took over, Forrest remained in and around the senior squad. And having been impressed by the youngster when he was in charge of the Development Squad, the Irishman had no fears over handing him his debut just seven games into his reign. And it was an ideal start for the winger who scored six minutes after coming on. Since then he has gone on to be a huge success and a fans´ favourite. He won Celtic´s Young Player of the Year in 2011 and the following season he won every Young Player of the Year award going in Scottish football.

    LEWIS TOSHNEY
    February 1, 2011
    SPL
    ABERDEEN 0
    CELTIC 3 (Hooper 12, Wilson 75, Stokes 78)
Currently on loan at Dens Park, Lewis Toshney made his first-team debut against Aberdeen two seasons ago. He came on as a substitute in the closing stages, replacing Scott Brown. The defender, who is comfortable in the centre or at right-back, then went out on loan in the search for regular games. He joined Kilmarnock in January 2012 on a half-season loan and achieved his aim in getting first-team football. He pushed on from there by agreeing to join Dundee on a season-long loan spell and again, he has been successfully getting games under his belt.

    PAUL GEORGE
    September 21, 2011
    Scottish League Cup
    ROSS COUNTY 0
    CELTIC 2 (Hooper 13, Boyd og 51)
Paul George came on as a substitute against Ross County in the 89th minute. He joined Celtic at the age of 14, with a professional contract waiting for him when he turned 16. And it was at that age he made his first appearance for the senior team, coming on as a substitute in a friendly against AZ Alkmaar in April 2010. He suffered a set-back last April when he broke his leg in a Glasgow derby. He scored the winner on his comeback for the U20s four months ago and he’s working hard to push his way into the manager’s plans.

    MARCUS FRASER
    November 3, 2011
    Europa League
    CELTIC 3 (Stokes 30, 43, Hooper 82)
    RENNES 1 (Mangane 2)
Marcus Fraser dipped his toes into the first team when he featured in a friendly against Athletic Bilbao in April 2011, but his competitive bow came eight months later in the Europa League match at home to Rennes. With Glenn Loovens going off injured at half-time the teenager was thrown in at the deep end being asked to perform on one of domestic football´s biggest stages. But he slotted into central defence with ease and despite his new surroundings he dealt with the task comfortably. He recently played 90 minutes in the 3-1 against Inverness Caledonian Thistle last month but suffered an injury setback in the Youth Cup victory over Aberdeen.

    DYLAN McGEOUCH
    November 6, 2011
    SPL
    MOTHERWELL 1 (Higdon 11)
    CELTIC 2 (Stokes 14, Hooper 80)
With a minute remaining in the league match against Motherwell, Dylan McGeouch was introduced for his first-team bow, but it was his next run out, though, which caught the headlines. Making a substitute appearance in the closing stages against St Mirren, he charged from the Celtic box, through the heart of midfield, and slammed home one of the goals of the season. McGeouch also scored in the recent 5-0 win over Dundee.

    FILIP TWARDZIK
    January 8, 2012
    Scottish Cup
    PETERHEAD 0
    CELTIC 3 (Stokes 36, 57, 82)
Filip Twardzik first featured for the first-team in the Emirates Cup clash with Lyon in London. He made his competitive debut at the start of 2012 when he came on as a substitute away to Peterhead in the 70th minute. He went on to feature the following month against Inverness Caledonian Thistle before also coming off the bench in the 6-0 win against Kilmarnock, the day Celtic won the league last season. Injury has hampered this season though, but he is hoping to make a full recovery before the campaign is over.

    TONY WATT
    April 22, 2012
    SPL
    MOTHERWELL 0
    CELTIC 3 (Watt 63, 66, Cha 83)
Tony Watt came on as a substitute against Motherwell last April and announced his arrival in the first-team with two goals in the space of three minutes. But if that was an impressive debut, then the teenage striker did even better when Celtic played Barcelona in this season’s UEFA Champions League. He again came off the bench and slotted home Celtic’s second goal in an incredible 2-1 victory over the Catalan giants. Watt has established himself in the first-team pool and has also been impressing at international level too, scoring for Scotland´s Under-21s in recent months.

    JOE CHALMERS
    August 25, 2012
    SPL
    INVERNESS CALEDONIAN THISTLE 2 (Draper 82, 87)
    CELTIC 4 (Wanyama 4, Watt 25, 64, Mulgrew 48)
Joe Chalmers came on with 15 minutes to go against Inverness Caley Thistle and looked comfortable in defence. He started against Arbroath in the Scottish Cup back in December and featured again in the Highlands last month. He got his first taste of the senior side in March 2011 when he played in the friendly against Athletic Bilbao and has enjoyed league and cup glory for the Under-19s over the last two seasons.

    JACKSON IRVINE
    September 1, 2012
    SPL
    CELTIC 2 (Lustig 10, McPake og 69)
    HIBERNIAN 2 (Clancy 53, Cairney 73)
Australian midfielder, Jackson Irvine, made his competitive bow for Celtic at the start of the season when he replaced the injured Victor Wanyama at half-time in the 2-2 draw with Hibs. Irvine, who has represented Australia at Under-20 level, has seen his season hampered by injury but is still hopeful of making a comeback to both the Development Squad and first-team before the campaign is over.

    JOHN HERRON
    December 22, 2012
    SPL
    CELTIC 4 (Brown 46, Hooper 53, 64, Forrest 70)
    ROSS COUNTY 0
John Herron made his first-team bow three days before Christmas, coming on as a substitute against Ross County with seven minutes to go. He was also named on the bench for the recent game at Inverness. He has been at the club for almost 10 years and features regularly for the Under-20s and Development Squads

    Young Hoops' semi final delight
PATRIK Twardzik's late strike from the penalty spot sealed a 1-0 victory over Kilmarnock and booked the young Hoops a place in the SFA Youth Cup Final.
It was a tight encounter at Celtic Park but the 76th minute winner will see the Under-20s head to Hampden next month as they look to retain the trophy for the fourth consecutive year.

    Under-20 Scottish Premier League
    Firhill Stadium, Glasgow

    CELTIC 2
    (Rogic 11, McGeouch 33)

    KILMARNOCK 0

FIRST-half goals from Tom Rogic and Dylan McGeouch sealed a well-deserved 2-0 victory for Celtic´s Under-20s and moved them another three points closer to clinching the league title.

Kilmarnock missed a penalty just before the half hour mark and failed to mount a comeback as the young Hoops stretched their lead at the top of the table to 13 points.

Stevie Frail and John Kennedy fielded a strong starting XI, with Rogic and McGeouch lining up alongside Tony Watt and Viktor Noring.

And the young Hoops started brightly, enjoying the majority of possession. It was Kilmarnock, though, who had the first chance on target, forcing Noring into a good block.

It didn’t take long for Celtic to create their own chances at the opposite end, and on 11 minutes Rogic found the back of the net. Watt played the ball down to the byline before cutting it back to the edge of the box. John Herron left it for Rogic who fired it into the bottom corner.

The visitors searched for an equaliser and it looked as though they had found it 10 minutes later. Their tricky winger sent it across the face of goal but luckily for Celtic, his team-mate couldn’t make contact at the back post.

Kilmarnock were given another opportunity to draw level on 26 minutes, though, and this time it was from the penalty spot. A handball was given against Mikey Miller but the Ayrshire side cracked their effort off the post.

Remaining in possession, Kilmarnock continued to press, but Noring denied them again with an outstretched block.

Meanwhile, Watt and McGeouch were linking up well at the opposite end, and the striker came close with a dipping header courtesy of the winger´s cross.

Five minutes later the pair linked up again, and this time McGeouch hit the target. Making a break, Watt picked out the teenager´s run. Keeping it low, McGeouch then curled it around the keeper to double Celtic´s advantage.

The home side were forced into a change when Herron failed to recover from a collision, but Paul George replaced him and came close with a header just before the break.

Celtic came out showing a similar vein of form after the break, and Keatings attempted an ambitious drive from 35-yards out. It dipped too early though, and fell into the keeper´s arms.

Rogic then came close to doubling his own tally two minutes later, but instead he cracked his effort off the near post.

Celtic continued to create chances, with substitute, Denny Johnstone, cutting the ball back for Bahrudin Atajic shortly after the hour mark, but the striker sent it over the bar from an acute angle.

The match entered a quiet period but the young Hoops remained dominant. Stuart Findlay made a lung-bursting run down two-thirds of the pitch inside the final stages of the match. He reached the byline and won a corner but it was then collected by the keeper and the defender´s hardwork came to nothing.

It was the last real chance for the young Hoops who played out the remainder of the match looking comfortable in possession. The 2-0 victory moves them 13 points clear of both Dundee United and Aberdeen.

CELTIC (4-4-2): Noring; Fisher, Irvine, Findlay, Miller; Herron (George 36), McGeouch, Rogic, Keatings (P. Twardzik 56); Atajic, Watt (Johnstone 65)
    Subs: Fasan, O´Connell, Kidd, Lindsay
