HMRC wins Rangers tax case appeal



HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has won a ruling that Rangers' use of Employee Benefit Trusts (EBTs) was illegal.

Rangers used the scheme from 2001 until 2010 to give millions of pounds of tax-free loans to players and other staff.

In what became known as the "big tax case", HMRC claimed these were salary payments and subject to tax.

HMRC lost its appeals at tax tribunals in 2012 and 2014. Now three three judges at the Court of Session in Edinburgh have upheld their appeal.

I'm hearing some ex Rangers players are now very nervous at possibly having to pay back EBT monies. Money most of them don't have.

Die sollen ihre schmutzig errungenen Titel behalten. Jeder weiĂź nun, wie die errungen wurde, nur das ist wichtig. Nur noch auslachen wird man die in Schottland.

Finally, common sense prevails. They know what they did. We know what they did. All the other fans of all the other clubs know what they did. The SFA know what they did. And now the law knows what they did. And the best thing about it is that all their cheating got them, other than a few once-shiny, now tarnished baubles, was a one way ticket to oblivion. Even cheating to the limit they could only just about keep up with us. And the stronger we got, the more they dug themselves into a hole. If they hadn't cheated they wouldn't have put themselves into such debt. They wouldn't have been been sold to Craig Whyte for ÂŁ1. They wouldn't have gone into administration. And they wouldn't have been liquidated.

I don't want their tarnished trophies. I want the history books to show "Winners - Rangers*", with a little footnote explaining that the title was pried from their cold, dead, 3 finger-webbed, zombified hands due to cheating. And I want this to lead to the tearing apart of the existing structures in Scottish Football, and the banishment of all of those who have worked played their part in first allowing cheats to flourish, and then either covering it all up, or doing whatever they could to ensure the new tribute act could try to carry on as before. Let the zombies cling onto their delusions about different company/same club like a horny dug shagging its favourite leg. They cheated. They died cheating. Get it right up them.

Nein geht uns nichts an. Aber weiter unten gut zu lesen, beim Start der EBT waren ein King und Murray im Board der Rankers gesessen. Diese beiden Herren sind auch nicht besser als ein Green oder Whyte. Und Ashley ist ja auch noch da, das wird auf lange Zeit hinaus weiter richtig lustig werden bei denen. Die Gerichte werden sich ĂĽber so viel Besuch sicherlich sehr erfreuen.
