Motherwell manager Stuart McCall was full of praise for Celtic’s performance in their 2-0 win at Fir Park, admitting his side were outplayed.

A strike from Gary Hooper and an own goal from Adam Cummings gave the Hoops all three points and McCall had no complaints after the match.

"Today you saw a rampant Celtic side," he said.

"We actually started the game quite well but their movement was terrific, they are all comfortable on the ball.

"Look at the bench, that is the strongest they have been this season.

"If Celtic are playing well and they certainly played well today then nobody in this league will live with them, it's a fact, we can't get away from it.

"But it is not what we do against Celtic that will count."

Moscow hero now wants to be Hearts breaker



GEORGIOS Samaras was Celtic’s hero in Moscow yet again as he headed home a last-minute goal to beat Spartak 3-2 in the Champions League. Three years ago, he conjured up another moment of Moscow magic to help Celtic knock Dinamo out of the Champions League qualifying round.

The Greek internationalist certainly enjoys his trips to Russia, and he proved once more just how valuable he is to the team. The bigger the stage, the better he performs.

And as one of the few Celtic players with previous experience of playing in the competition, he’s relishing the opportunity to face some of Europe’s top sides.

"We are already successful because we have reached our target," he told this week’s Celtic View. "Our target was to reach the group stages of the Champions League and we did that by beating two really good teams in Helsinki and Helsingborgs.

"Benfica and Barcelona play in the Champions League every year and Spartak Moscow are in it most years, so it is not easy, but we have the chance to be competitive now and we want to win the games.

"All games are 50/50, so if we take our chances, you never know what will happen in football. It will be difficult to beat Barcelona or to get a draw with them but even if that doesn’t happen we will fight for second position.

"And if that doesn’t come then we mustn’t forget that third position gets you into the Europa League. It is so good to have European football and even better to have it after Christmas."

Now, having been successful in the Russian capital, Samaras is now turning his attention to a team from the Scottish capital. Celtic play host to Hearts this Sunday, October 7 and the Hoops are determined to keep their impressive form going.

"Hearts are always a difficult team," Samaras said. "We always have to be careful when we play them even though they haven’t had a good start to the season.

"We have also struggled at times so we have to be careful. Our minds have been on European games so we know we haven’t started our season well. We need to find our form in the SPL and build on our momentum."

Charlie hat es vorgemacht, zwei andere sind nachgezogen.


Adam Matthews and James Forrest have joined Charlie Mulgrew in signing new deals at Celtic.

Wales defender Matthews will be a Celt until May 2016, while Scotland winger Forrest's new contract keeps him at Parkhead until December, 2016.

Earlier on Friday, the Scottish champions confirmed that defender Mulgrew had extended his stay until the summer of 2016.

Replicating the uniform worn by Celtic in their very first match against Rangers on May 28, 1888, the 125th anniversary kit features a white shirt with a black collar, backed with green, black shorts and green and black hooped socks.

The very first Celtic cross club crest has been redesigned for the 21st Century but maintains the unbreakable bond with the club’s origins and Irish heritage.

Both Nike and Tennent’s Lager have applied their logos in a manner that is fitting to the shirt and shorts to emphasise the classic nature of the design and highlight the Irish cross crest. The club worked with Nike to recreate the look of the original Celtic kit worn by the first Celtic team in 1888 with the full support and co-operation of our partners at Tennents.

Celtic captain Scott Brown appears likely to miss Sunday's visit by Hearts as he continues to battle against an on-going hip injury.

Defender Adam Matthews is 50-50 with an ankle injury, but striker Lassad has recovered from his calf injury.

Scotland defender Andy Webster is set to return to Hearts' starting line-up, having returned to training after missing three games with a back injury.

However, goalkeeper Mark Ridgers remains on the sidelines.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon : "We have to make sure we keep the foot right on the pedal.

"John McGlynn's a great manager. I've got a lot of time and admiration for what he's done in the game so far and Hearts are the great unpredictables.

"They have been a bit inconsistent, but that's understandable when a new manager comes in.

"But Hearts can give any team a run for their money and we've seen that already at Anfield against Liverpool.

"So it's a good game for us to get our teeth into after Tuesday in Moscow."

Hearts manager John McGlynn: "We'll be in the same situation as Celtic were going to Moscow. Would you have fancied them? Would you fancy us?

"It's the same scenario. It's a two-horse race - win, lose or draw.

"We haven't been playing badly. I think we can cause Celtic problems but we have to go there and do that."
