Bertie Auld`s family would like all Celtic fans and football fans in general to keep Bertie in their prayers as they confirmed today that he is suffering with Dementia.

The family would like to thank everyone for their huge support and request privacy during this difficult time.

Bertie is being well cared for at his own home, surrounded by all the family.

Everyone at Celtic would like to add their best wishes to Bertie and his family. Bertie is a true Celtic icon, one of our greatest sons and someone the Club and our supporters love and respect dearly.

We will continue to give Bertie and his family all our love, care and our ongoing full support at this hugely challenging time.

ErschĂĽtternd, die Nachricht gestern zu lesen.
Ich bin zwar noch recht jung und habe die Lisbon Lions und damit auch Bertie Auld in ihrer Zeit nicht wirklich miterleben können, aber die von ihnen hinterlassenen Geschichten, sowie ihre immense Bedeutung für den Verein, leben seit Jahrzehnten fort und erschließen sich daher auch jüngeren Celtic Fans.
Bertie schien auch auf jedem Bild, das es von ihm gab, zu lächeln und auch die Tatsache, dass er wohl vor jedem Spiel (insbesondere dem Finale 1967 gegen Inter) den Celtic Song mit seinen Teamkameraden angestimmt hat, wenn die Spieler vom Tunnel auf das Spielfeld rannten, fasst seinen Charakter und seine Einstellung wohl sehr gut zusammen.

Neil Lennon: Ex-Celtic boss becomes Omonia Nicosia manager
The Northern Irishman has signed a deal that will take him up to the end of the 2023-24 campaign. He has been out of management since stepping down from his second managerial spell at Celtic Park last February. Omonia recently parted ways with former Rangers and Manchester United defender Henning Berg. They featured in the group stage of this season's Europa Conference League but missed out on a place in the Cypriot top six when the league split in two. Lennon, 50, led Celtic to 10 major trophies across his two stints as manager, winning two league titles, two Scottish Cups and a League Cup having returned to the club in February 2019 following the departure of Brendan Rodgers. However he resigned two years later as Celtic's bid to win 10 consecutive league titles crumbled. In between his spells at Celtic Lennon spent 17 months as manager of Bolton Wanderers before guiding Hibernian to the Scottish Championship title in 2017.

Man kann ihm nur wĂĽnschen, dass er dort erfolgreich ist und wieder ein bisschen neuen Fokus in sein Leben bekommt!

Das scheint bisher ganz gut zu gelingen, sportlich ist Lennon auf Zypern wie es scheint bisher durchaus erfolgreich unterwegs.

Wird ihm sicher gut tun und er sieht auch wieder deutlich besser aus, nachdem man sich bei ein paar Auftritten nach dem Aus bei uns zwischenzeitlich ja wirklich Sorgen um ihn machen musste.

Er holt sich auf jeden Fall versierte Unterstützung für das europäische Abenteuer an Bord, Adam Matthews kam im Juli und jetzt auch Gary Hooper. Beide waren damals ja nicht ganz unwesentlich beteiligt an unserem Run ins CL-Achtelfinale unter Lennon damals...
