Celtic’s ‘poor communication’ and uncertainty over manager role pushed Jack Hendry to make Oostende deal permanent
The ball-playing defender joined KV Oostende in Belgium on loan in the summer of 2020 - and the 26-year-old has not looked back.

Jack Hendry in talks over £10m move to Club Brugge despite the Scottish defender only joining Oostende from Celtic this summer and interest from a number of Premier League sides

Celtic set for Jack Hendry sell-on bonus as Club Bruges transfer set to generate six-figure sum

Ex-Celtic chief Dominic McKay lands new job six weeks after shock Parkhead exit
The former SRU boss stunned Scottish football when he stepped down as Hoops chief executive after just two months in the role. He cited "personal reasons" for the sudden departure which came at the start of Ange Postecoglou's Parkhead reign. But he has found a new job back at his rugby roots as non-executive director and interim chairman of the EPCR - which organises the Heineken Champions Cup and Challenge Cup tournaments.

Celtic's best wishes to Wim Jansen
Everyone at Celtic would like to send their best wishes to our former manager, Wim Jansen, after he revealed this week that he is living with dementia. Wim, who turns 75 this Thursday, talks about his diagnosis and now living with the illness in a new biography of his life, which is being published in the Netherlands. In the book, he discusses how he decided to seek medical advice after reading a book about his former Dutch international colleague, Piet Schrijvers, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease, because he recognised the same symptoms. Wim will be forever held in the highest regard by the Celtic Family for his success in winning the league title for the club back in the 1997/98 season, the year when the Hoops famously ‘stopped the 10’.

    Wim, You’ll Never Walk Alone.

Former Celtic ace Joe Ledley hangs up his boots after glittering 17-year career
The midfielder won three titles and a Scottish Cup during almost four years with the Hoops following a free transfer move from Cardiff City in 2010. Over his club playing career the 34-year-old played 550 games and scored 69 goals. He also earned 77 Wales caps, featuring in every game of their sensational run to the semi-finals of Euro 2016.

Signing for Celtic was a true highlight, an amazingly unique football club. There was no better feeling than winning trophies for arguably the most passionate fans in the world, cherished memories. I achieved more than I could have ever imagined, but the time came to follow another dream and play in the Premier League, Crystal Palace opened the door for that. Playing against and alongside some of the best players in the game. Amazing.

Former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers contacted by Manchester United after sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
The Red Devils are prepared to pay £8million in compensation to his current club, Leicester. That is on top of a £7.5million payoff for Solskjaer. Ex-Hoops boss Rodgers has a clause in his contract letting him speak to certain clubs if they come knocking — and United are one.

Former Celtic boss Ronny Deila is 90 minutes away from securing Major League Soccer glory as New York City close in on their first ever title. Toller Artikel auf

Danke Wim Jansen!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Somewhere along the line Johan Cruyff said this about him: "Wim Jansen is one of only four men in the world worth listening to when they talk about football." Given that Cruyff, in the opinion of many experts, could be considered one of the most influential football coaches or managers in the history of the game, that was quite a comment in praise of Jansen.

"A handshake was out of the question," wrote Brown years later. Even in the hour of their greatest triumph in many years, there was no thawing in the bitterness and rancour at the heart of the club.

To chart what was surely one of Celtic's most eventful seasons you have to go back in time to the summer of 1997. In the May, Jorge Cadete (38 goals in his 48 games) left and Paul McStay, the beacon of the club, retired. In the August, Paolo di Canio (who had one outstanding season at the club) departed. A few months earlier, Pierre van Hooijdonk - 56 goals in 92 games including the winner in a cup final - had been sold.

At the same time, Rangers signed Lorenzo Amoruso from Fiorentina for £5m, Sergio Porrini from Juventus for £4m, Marco Negri from Perugia for £3.7m. They also signed Rino Gattuso, a future World Cup winner.

Jansen had also spent, but nowhere near as lavishly. Paul Lambert, Darren Jackson, Craig Burley, Stephane Mahe, Marc Rieper and Harald Brattbakk all joined, along with somebody called Larsson (for £650,000), who didn't look up to much as Celtic lost their first two league games.

Jansen said that he didn't speak to the board from the January of that season. Brown said that, by mid-March - with Jansen apparently showing zero interest in planning for the following year - he was convinced he was going to leave. It all became a tortuous saga.

"There was a growing impression in my mind that Wim would not be too troubled about the team's failure as long as no blame for such failure was attributed to him," wrote Brown, cuttingly, in the aftermath. "I wanted to continue to build a team, but they didn't want to spend any money," said Jansen, a few years back. "I didn't want to fight them any more."
