Alles hinter Barca ist möglich. Die Chance jetzt erstmal richtig gross, zumindest weiter in der EL zu spielen. Bringt am Ende alles Kohle. Hätte ganz sicher auch nichts gegen einen 2. Platz in der Gruppe, der Weg dahin ist noch recht weit. Aber mit diesem Fussball von heute, müssen wir sicherlich vor Spartak oder Benfica keine Angst haben, die eher vor uns.

Brown Lauds 'Phenomenal' Celtic Win at Spartak


Beating Spartak Moscow 3-2 away from home to seal Celtic's first win in 21 Champions League away games was "phenomenal" and prompted wild celebration among the Celtic players, captain Scott Brown said Tuesday.

Celtic came back from 2-1 down with 20 minutes remaining to win with an own goal and a last-gasp winner from Georgios Samaras.

"It's just phenomenal that we managed to go away from home and get three points in the group stage," Brown said.

"For us to be on the winning side and going into that dressing room with the music blaring and everyone jumping about, just delighted."

Confidence from beating Spartak could boost Celtic for their next two matches against Barcelona, Brown said.

"We've got great team spirit in the dressing room so we're going to have to take that onto the pitch," he said.

The turning point in Moscow came when Spartak center-back Juan Manuel Insaurralde was sent off for tripping Gary Hooper in a last-man challenge, but Brown suggested the referee had taken some persuading to issue the red.

"At the end, we managed to get the right decision," he said, claiming the referee had originally intended to book Hooper for diving.

"I think Gary was one-on-one with the goalie, he just managed to get in behind the defender and he's brought him down, so he's not going to dive from 10, 15 yards out [of the box]," Brown said.

Neil Lennon hails 'magnificent' Celtic after win in Moscow


Manager Neil Lennon said he was "probably the proudest man in Europe" after Celtic's 3-2 Champions League victory over 10-man Spartak Moscow.

"I cannot speak highly enough of the players, they were magnificent," enthused Lennon.

"They showed great character and fortitude to come back after going behind just after half-time.

"People underestimate Celtic. I don't think we get the respect we deserve but that might change a few attitudes."

Georgios Samaras' last-gasp header in the Luzhniki Stadium gave Celtic a first group phase away win in 19 attempts.

Gary Hooper had shot the visitors in front before Emmanuel Emenike hit back for the Russian club, with close-range goals either side of the interval.

Spartak defender Juan Insaurralde was sent off on 63 minutes for a cynical trip that prevented Hooper going clean through on goal.

And Celtic levelled 10 minutes later when a strike from substitute James Forrest rebounded in off Dmitri Kombarov.

"I thought we thoroughly deserved to win it," said Lennon.

"We didn't start particularly well, we looked a bit nervous and our passing wasn't there for the first five or 10 minutes but we had a quick break and scored a good goal.

"I have to say I thought Gary Hooper was world class tonight.

"I thought he was just magnificent and the catalyst for a lot of good things we did.

"People keep asking me about him playing for England, well I think he showed how good he is.

"But there were so many good performances, Izaguirre, Ambrose, Wilson, Brown, Samaras came on to a game, Commons got stronger as the game went on, James Forrest came on and gave us pace and quality."

Celtic have four points from two games but Lennon refused to get carried away with regards their chances of qualifying for the knock-out stages.

"We just have to play Barcelona home and away," he jested. "It is a huge step for the club.

"It is our first away win in the Champions League so we have broken a record.

"It is fantastic but there is a lot of football to be played in the group.

"We have two home games and Benfica and Barcelona away so it is still an open group for second place as far as I am concerned.

"We are still novices in this tournament but a few more performances like that wouldn't do us any harm at all.

"Every one of the players was a credit to the club."
