Celtic Colts face Annan Athletic in Irn-Bru Cup
FOR the third season in a row, Celtic Colts will face Annan Athletic in the IRN-BRU Cup. Tommy McIntyre's side face a trip to Galabank Stadium, aiming for a more positive result than their previous visit.
Last season the young Celtic side found themselves down to 10 men after just nine minutes following Wallace Duffy's dismissal. And while Regan Hendry scored for the Hoops, the home side hit three to progress to the next round.
The previous season, Celtic had beaten Annan Athletic 5-1 at Cappielow, with Hendry and Jack Aitchison amongst the scorers. In the next round, the Hoops beat Cowdenbeath, with Aitchison again on the scoresheet, before they were knocked out by Livingston.

SPFL confirm make-up of two Reserve Leagues ahead of the new campaign
A total of 27 clubs will participate across the two tiers following the scrapping of the Development League at the end of last season. Fixtures for each club are expected to be announced in the coming days and the divisions will start next month as young players are pitched into a more competitive environment to enhance their progression through the ranks.

Half-term Reserve Team Report

Celtic sign highly-rated young midfielder, Liam Burt
CELTIC are delighted to announce that attacking midfielder, Liam Burt, has joined the club. Liam, whose previous club was Rangers, has signed a two-year contract. He will be part of the Celtic Reserve squad under the guidance of Tommy McIntyre, and will be looking to push through towards the first-team during the next two years.

Penalty shoot-out drama as Celtic beat Queen's Park
IT was a night of drama in the Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup as a young Celtic team won a dramatic cup-tie against League Two side, Queen’s Park. And it was a dream debut for new Bhoy, Liam Burt, who netted the winning penalty in the shoot-out after the game had finished 2-2 after 90 minutes.

Celtic and Rangers join new cross-border reserve competition along with Aberdeen and Hibs
Celtic and Rangers have entered a new six-team cross-border competition after withdrawing from the SPFL Reserve League. Aberdeen and Hibs will also take part in the brand new event with Brentford and Huddersfield Town completing the line-up. The competition kicks-off on Tuesday and will see all six clubs playing each other home and away before the top two sides contest a final to decide a winner. Clubs will field under 21 sides but are allowed three overage outfield players - plus an overage keeper. It comes after the quartet of Premiership clubs were among eight to withdraw from the SPFL Reserve League in the summer claiming it was not beneficial to youngsters.

Harper fires Celtic to victory in Reserve Cup clash with Dunfermline
CELTIC continued their winning run in the Reserve Cup with a hard-fought but well-deserved 1-0 win over Dunfermline Athletic at East End Park today (Tuesday). Cameron Harper scored the only goal of the game for the Hoops, who have now won all three of their cup fixtures – having previously beaten Dundee and Morton 4-2 in each game.

Barry Coffey signs new two-year deal at Paradise

CELTIC are delighted to announce that 18-year-old midfielder Barry Coffey has extended his stay at Paradise until the summer of 2022. The U-19 Ireland internationalist pens his new two-year deal two years after first signing for the club in the summer of 2017. Coffey’s hard work in Tommy McIntyre’s reserves last campaign saw him called up to the Scottish champions’ pre-season training camp in Austria and Switzerland in June. There, he played for the senior side for the first time against SC Pinkafeld. In the weeks that followed, Coffey represented his country at the UEFA European Under-19 Championship, and is now determined to work hard to keep himself in Neil Lennon’s wider plans at club level.
Speaking at Celtic Park, Coffey said: “I’m over the moon and it’s nice to finally get the new deal over the line. I’m delighted and it’s nice to celebrate the hard work over the last two years that’s led to this point. Now, I can’t wait to get to work and continue to prove my worth at this great club.
“At the start of the season, it was an unreal experience to be involved with the first team and to play a few games in Austria. And then I was away with Ireland U-19s at the Euros, which was another fantastic experience. Now, I’ll work as hard as I can at Celtic, and can hopefully catch the gaffer’s eye again.”

CELTIC’S reserve side produced an impressive performance and superb result to beat Chelsea 1-0 at the London club’s training ground.
