Harry Kewell: I said 'Yes' straightaway
In the summer of 1999, Harry Kewell took part in Celtic’s pre-season preparations as the team steadied themselves for the campaign ahead – albeit he was part of a Leeds United side taking on the Hoops in a friendly at Paradise - and at the start of the term in which a 16-year-old John Kennedy made his debut. The packed crowd took in a 2-1 win for the Yorkshire side, and now, 23 years later, Kewell is back in the environs of Celtic and involved in the Hoops’ preparations for the coming season once more, but this time with a much more hands-on and concerned approach to the team’s welfare and expectations for the coming term. And despite spending nearly half his life away from his homeland on his football travels, not to mention spending the morning with John Kennedy at Lennoxtown, there’s still more than an Australian twang to his accent which will no doubt help Ange Postecoglou feel even more at home in his northern Paradise.

Ange Postecoglou in hardline Celtic squad stance as boss insists 'it's not my job' to keep stars happy

Ange Postecoglou insists it is not his job to keep stars happy. Celtic's Premiership title-winning boss has a huge squad of top-class talent at his disposal and can only pick 11 at a time to start matches.

Postecoglou will rotate his troops in the coming months to help share the workload of games both at home and in the Champions League. Star names will be placed onto the bench at times, but the manager says they will all get opportunities and isn’t concerned about anyone becoming agitated due to the fact his squad all know the nature of the situation at such a huge institution.

Postecoglou said: “They are at Celtic Football Club. If that is not happiness for them, I don’t know what is, they can find it somewhere else. It is not my job to keep them happy. My job is to make sure that we get the best out of them and give them every opportunity. And they will all get opportunities. They know that.

“If you want to play at a big club, and this is a big club, the reality of it is that part of that is you will have competition for places. It keeps you at your best and also you know you will require a big squad of players.

“This group of players understands that and they work hard every day. The game is a by-product of how we train every day and training levels are high because we have a strong squad.

“If you just have a strong eleven, then your training levels are not great, which means even the first eleven are not improving at a rate. My job is not to keep them happy. My job is to make sure we keep them ready and able to take their opportunity when it comes along.”

Ange Postecoglou wins Scottish Premiership Manager of the Month Award
Ange Postecoglou has been named the Scottish Premiership Glen’s Manager of the Month for the September/October period, as the reigning champions established a four-point lead at the top of the table. The award is based on the matches played during September and October as there were only two fixture rounds in September. It is also the Celtic manager’s second Manager of the Month award this season. The Hoops picked up 18 points from the seven matches played during September and October, with wins over Rangers, Motherwell, St. Johnstone, Hibernian, Heart of Midlothian and Livingston. The Australian manager picked up five Glen’s Premiership Manager of the Month awards last season and was also named the Glen’s Scottish Premiership Manager of the Season for 2021/22 in May.

The Hoops boss will bring his squad Down Under for the Sydney Super Cup and will also host two theatre shows in Sydney and Melbourne during his return home. And Football Australia has honoured him ahead of the visit by introducing him into their Hall of Fame.

Also wenn Ange ausrastet (ab 2:30 min), ist was geboten

Wir hatten schon viele geniale Trainer, in "meiner" Zeit als Fan die sportlich grĂ¶ĂŸten sicherlich MON (Celtic wieder aufgerichtet), Strachan (Verein saniert), Rodgers (ProfessionalitĂ€t) und jetzt Ange (Revolution).

Wenn man von außen die Persönlichkeiten betrachtet, finde ich Mowbray und Ange am charismatischsten (was ein Wort).

Schön, dass es bei Ange auch einfach gut passt. Ich hoffe, er bleibt uns lange erhalten und wir erinnern uns an seine unglaubliche Leistung auch dann noch, wenn es vielleicht mal nicht so lÀuft.

Man kann ĂŒber die VereinsfĂŒhrung ja denken, was man will, aber sie lagen in den letzten 20 Jahren schon auffallend oft richtig, was die strategisch wichtigsten Posten im Verein betrifft (Trainer, Scouting, Finanzen).

Der Tag beginnt echt mies, hatte bis zum Schluss gehofft die Verhandlungen brechen zusammen.

Ich denke, an dem Punkt, an dem die Verhandlungen offiziell werden, ist das Thema erledigt.

WĂ€re den Fans ja dann auch schwer vermittelbar gewesen.

Da Ange vor 2 Jahren sich nicht zu schade war, den Sauhaufen, den Lennon hinterlassen hat, zu ĂŒbernehmen, war mir irgendwie klar, dass er da auch bei Tottenham keine Schmerzen hat.

Wie Big John in einer nĂŒchternen und realistischen Art treffend beschrieben hat, Geld ist bei denen genug da. Und die sind aktuell ja derart verzweifelt, dass er dort eigentlich nichts falsch machen kann.
Dazu jede Menge Stars um sich und eine Herausforderung, sich mit Pep, Klopp usw. zu messen. Er lebt Fußball, hat sich hochgearbeitet und ist schon 57 Jahre alt.
Aus seiner persönlichen Sicht spricht wirklich alles dafĂŒr, die Gelegenheit zu ergreifen.

Einfach ein cleverer Kerl. Was hÀtte er denn bei uns noch erreichen sollen? Er hat alles neu aufgebaut, mit einem Kaltstart die Liga und den Liga-Cup gewonnen, und dieses Jahr dann auch die Blauen komplett dominiert und mit dem Treble die Kirsche auf die Torte gesetzt.

Man muss einfach froh sein, dass der noch nicht frĂŒher in Europa entdeckt wurde und ĂŒberhaupt 2 Jahre bei uns war.
In Europa gibt es viele Trainer, die nicht annÀhernd dieses Talent haben und einen Topjob nach dem nÀchsten angeboten bekommen.
