Neil Lennon: I will do all I can to bring more success to this club

NEIL Lennon says he’s immensely proud to return as Celtic manager, and he will do everything in his power to bring more success to the club which is so close to his heart. The new Hoops boss acknowledged the circumstances in which he re-enters Paradise, but stressed his desire to replicate the success the Scottish champions have enjoyed in recent years as well as during his last spell as Celtic manager. In an exclusive interview with Celtic TV, Neil Lennon said: “I feel a wide range of emotions, and the first one is obviously pride. I’ve got the privilege of doing this job again, and I’ve obviously got a huge amount of gratitude for the club taking a leap of faith in me once more.
“It’s difficult circumstances. There’s a chasm to fill with Brendan leaving. He’s done a remarkable job, but I’m here for the club. The club comes first as do the players. I want to bring as much success during my time here as I possibly can.
“There’re always huge expectations at this club and the players have been absolutely exceptional over the last two-and-a-half to three years, with the level of performance, and the trophy haul as well.
“All I want to do is carry that on – it’s not broken and I’m not coming in and looking to revolutionise anything. I’ll lean on John Kennedy a lot he’s been with Brendan for these last two-and-a-half-years and he knows how it works, the system and the routine. I’ll tap into that a lot.”
Neil Lennon made 304 appearances as a Celtic player, and enjoyed a successful spell as manager between 2010 and 2014, securing the first three league titles of the Hoops' current seven-in-a-row run. To this end, the new Celtic manager has a thorough understanding of the club and its history, but stressed his arrival isn’t about individuals and is instead about bringing yet more trophies to Paradise.
He added: “It’s not about me coming back, it’s not about Brendan leaving. It’s about Celtic winning the league and hopefully winning another cup as well.
“I just want to say that I will do all that I can to bring success to the football club, and try to produce the style of football that the supporters are accustomed to under the previous manager.”

John Kennedy: It's all about the club and focus is on tonight's game

JOHN Kennedy came through the ranks at Celtic, a successful Academy graduate who made it all the way to the first-team. And even after his playing career came to a premature end, he remained at the club as he developed his coaching career. For the past two-and-a-half years, that has been as first-team coach. Now, he has stepped up as assistant manager, providing a level of continuity with the arrival of Neil Lennon to replace Brendan Rodgers as manager. That continuity has meant preparing the players for tonight’s Premiership match against Hearts at Tynecastle, and like Neil Lennon, John Kennedy was also keen to emphasise that the club is the priority and ensuring that the players who have delivered so much success in recent seasons remain focused on trying to continue that in the months ahead.
Speaking at Celtic Park today, John Kennedy said: “I’ve had a very good time here at Celtic and I have worked my way up to this point. Neil has asked me to be his assistant, and I’m delighted to do that. There is a lot of stability here behind the scenes.
“For me, I have a job to do and I work for Celtic, and our first order is Hearts tonight. Speaking to the players yesterday at training, we’re fully focused on the here and now, and the full focus is on the game tonight. The players know what we expect from them, and they know what the supporters expect.
“I spoke to Brendan before he departed Lennoxtown. In that time, I was approached by the club and asked to keep things ticking along and organise the team for Wednesday.
“Brendan has done a terrific job and things have happened, but the players have also done a terrific job. They, as a whole, have won two trebles.
“For me, the transition will be easy. When Neil was here, he was very successful, and when he was at Hibs, we found those games very difficult.
“Behind the scenes, Neil has come into this at a good time. In terms of planning, it doesn’t stop. The bigger picture is that it’s about the club, the club work in a certain manner, and Neil will put his own style on that.”

Damien Duff: First-team role is a massive honour for me

CIRCUMSTANCES in football can change very quickly, and recent events have confirmed that again to Damien Duff. Just a few months ago, he was coaching Shamrock Rovers’ Under-15 side back home in Ireland. On Wednesday night, he was in the away dugout at Tynecastle as Celtic first-team coach. Having initially joined as part of the coaching set-up with the reserves, he was delighted to join Neil Lennon and John Kennedy in taking the first team following the managerial changes earlier this week. And speaking exclusively to Celtic TV, the former Republic of Ireland internationalist explained that he will provide whatever help is required as the Hoops chase further domestic honours this season.
“I’m ready for it,” he said. “I know the role and I know the club, and it’s a massive honour. Celtic is more than a club. Here, you’re fighting for more than that - you’re fighting for a cause as well. I know what the club means to fans. It means the same to me, so I’m ready.
“I understand the club and, Celtic Football Club aside, myself and football, I’m all about emotion and enthusiasm.
“There’s a bit of me that’s sad to see the back of the reserves for now. I felt like they were starting to really understand me and the way I work. The game against the Kilmarnock reserves is the best they’ve been, and for 70-80 minutes they were brilliant.
“What I’ve enjoyed up until now is improving young players. I feel I’m good at it, so I guess I’ll miss that side of it, but I’ll still be keeping an eye on them and helping them whenever I can.
“There were four or five of them training with the first team after the Hearts game. That’s what the club’s built on, bringing youth through so nothing’s going to change.
“It’s obviously a massive step up to the first team. There will be more quality and a quicker tempo, but I’ll just be helping the gaffer and John wherever I can. That’s what I’m here for.”

John Kennedy: 'It's a dream' to manage Celtic after starting as a 'boot boy'
John Kennedy says it is his "dream" to manage Celtic, but insists his immediate focus remains on helping Neil Lennon complete the club's third straight domestic treble.

Celtic have confirmed Neil Lennon will remain as the Scottish champions' manager on a 12-month rolling contract.

Lennon took over as interim boss after Brendan Rodgers departed the club in February, and helped the club secure a historic third consecutive treble by sealing the Premiership and Scottish Cup titles.

Lennon hails Celtic coach Damien Duff for impact working with Johnston and Forrest
Duff arrived at Celtic Park as reserve coach in January. But he was quickly elevated into a first-team role when Lennon took over from Brendan Rodgers. Specialist goalkeeper and striker coaches have long been familiar sights on club backroom staffs. But Hoops boss Lennon believes the likes of James Forrest and Mikey Johnston are now reaping the rewards from the insights being dished out by former Chelsea star Duff.

Neil Lennon wins Premiership Manager of the Month for August
CELTIC manager Neil Lennon has been named the Ladbrokes Premiership Manager of the Month for August. The Irishman picked up the first award of the 2019/20 season for Celtic’s excellent league start to the defence of their title and their bid for nine-in-a-row. Neil Lennon led Celtic to three league wins from three in the month of August, the first of which was a 7-0 thrashing of St Johnston at Paradise on the opening day of the season. The champions followed that up a week later with a 5-2 win away to Motherwell before defeating Hearts 3-1 at Celtic Park on August 25.

Neil Lennon doesn’t regret first Celtic exit but says he never wants to leave again
Lennon announced he was stepping down as Parkhead boss in May 2014 after four years at the helm. During that time he won three titles and two Scottish Cups, but his ambition was fuelling him to try something else. Yet, after being sacked by Bolton and leaving Hibs, he returned to the club where his heart always remained. After winning the Treble last term, Lennon has the Hoops top of the league and in the last 32 of the Europa League, thanks to stunning home and away wins against Lazio.

Celtic boss Lennon has better win percentage and goal difference than Rodgers’ Invincibles
NEIL LENNON has now racked up 59 games in his second spell as Celtic manager - the exact same number as Brendan Rodgers during the Invincible season. In that time, both managers have won three trophies and competed in Europe, but Lennon actually has the more impressive stats.

Die Resultate stimmen bisher, das kann man auf jeden Fall sagen.

Heute auf den Tag vor einem Jahr begann Neil Lennons zweite Amtszeit:

'Lennon success has spared him unanimous fury' - a year on from Rodgers' Celtic exit
Resentment among the fans remains over Brendan Rodgers' departure, but the success of Neil Lennon since replacing him ensures the club are not looking back in anger, writes Tom English.

Guter Artikel. "In every department, Celtic are in better shape than a year ago." Das trifft es auf den Kopf und diese Entwicklung hätte ich vor einem Jahr nicht für möglich gehalten und Lennon ehrlich gesagt zu dem Zeitpunkt auch nicht zugetraut.
