Weiss targets Hoops move
Slovakian starlet eyes loan switch
Manchester City winger Vladimir Weiss has revealed that he would love to join Celtic on loan.
The 20-year-old Slovakia international has been strongly linked with a move to the Hoops as Neil Lennon looks to further bolster his options for the new season.
City are reportedly not willing to let Weiss leave the club on a permanent basis, but could be open to sending him out on loan if an agreement can be reached.
He told the Daily Record: "I'd love to play for Celtic. It would be like a dream come true for me. The thing is, it's okay me saying I'd love to go to Celtic but it's not just up to me.
"Manchester City also have a say in where I go next. I need to speak to them and get their opinion of what is best for me.
"We trained on Sunday and I spoke to the manager. I told him there was interest from Celtic and I'd love to go.
"He told me to wait because he needs to speak to (football administrator) Brian Marwood but we should know more after that. I've got to wait and speak to the manager, things should be a bit clearer after that.
"I should find out on Monday or Tuesday morning. A few clubs have come in and tried to buy me but Manchester City said there's no chance of that.
Playing time
"But they've said they will let me go on loan, it's just about the destination. They know I need to get a season where I play week in, week out and I think Celtic would be a great option.
"There are still a few more clubs who are interested so I'll have to speak to my dad because it's not an easy decision. But Celtic are a great club, a big club."
The Bhoys have also been linked with City keeper Shay Given, who lost his place in the side for the Premier League opener with Tottenham to Joe Hart.
Weiss is hoping a double switch can be agreed and is looking forward to finding out if a move will be possible.
"I know Celtic are linked with Shay as well," he added. "I'm not sure if City would let us go to the same club, we'll have to wait and see but that would be great.
"That's another reason I have to wait as Celtic are trying to get Shay as well so it might depend on that. I'm sure I'll find out on Monday what's happening.
"It could be an exciting move if it happens and I'd be really happy if that's how it turns out."
