CELTIC boss Neil Lennon has confirmed Polish international Sebastian Boenisch and Aidan White are on his wish-list to strengthen his threadbare defence.
Lennon, who watched his side crash 1-0 to German Third Division side Stuttgart Kickers last night, confirmed he was interested in out-of-contract Werder Bremen defender Boenisch and had made contact with the player’s representative.
Leeds youngster White is also out of contract and is another on the Celtic manager’s radar.
Speaking about Boenisch, who starred at Euro 2012, Lennon said: “He is a possibility but we haven’t heard anything back yet from his representatives.
“Until I hear something, then there is nothing I can say.”
The suggestion is that Boenisch, who has also been linked with Newcastle, would welcome a move to Parkhead but isn’t prepared to come on trial.
The 25-year-old knocked back a new deal at Bremen because he didn’t get enough top-team action last season.
Lennon has also been on the trail of Leeds defender White for some time.
The youngster has also been linked with Lille and, ironically, Werder Bremen.
Asked about White, Lennon added: “I am going with what I have unless we can get something in.
“He is a possibility and is one who interests us but that is as far as we have taken it so far.”
Celtic have also confirmed their interest in South Korean winger Kim Bo-Kyung, ahead of the Olympic Games, but he is ready to open talks with Championship side Cardiff City today.
Reports in Spain also linked Celtic with more interest in Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Joel but that has been denied.
The Hoops are unlikely to sign a third goalkeeper unless they make the group stages of the Champions League and until then they will go with Fraser Forster and Lukasz Zaluska.
