9 bubbling Celtic paydays from ÂŁ34m blockbuster to forgotten flops that will leave summer war chest bursting
The moves in the upcoming window could be funded by a host of potential paydays – with
Jeremie Frimpong set to offer the largest cut early in the summer amid interest from Liverpool.
Celtic will bank a bumper sell-on payday as they hold a a 30 percent sell-on fee as part of the £11million deal that allowed Frimpong to leave the club for Bayer Leverkusen back in January 2021 – with a £34million asking price being demanded.
On a similar note, La Liga side Sevilla are weighing up a big money move for
Alexandro Bernabei only six months after the Hoops banked ÂŁ4million for the outcast.
And that could see the Celtic Park coffers boosted again if he leaves Internacional with reports in Brazil suggesting the Glasgow giants hold a sell-on clause in the 24-year-old's deal.
A host of loan players could also make permanent departures.
Marco Tilio made just two appearances before returning to the A-League with Melbourne City.
He is racking up the goals and the appearances, and Celtic could recoup the ÂŁ1.5m they paid for the forward - who has admitted talks over a permanent departure have taken place.
Similarly,
Gustaf Lagerbielke has left the door open for a long-term stay at FC Twente.
The Swede reckons his chances of a full time switch to FC Twente hinge on the Dutch side achieving European football as Celtic look to recoup the ÂŁ3million they splashed on the Swedish centre-back.
Both
Luis Palma and
Stephen Welsh are expected to return to Celtic from their respective loan spells at Olympiacos and KV Mechelen.
However, reports in Greece suggest that the option to purchase fee for Palma in his contract – which stands at £4million – could be negotiated down.
Welsh has made himself a mainstay of the backline during his time in Belgium and Mechelen could be willing to test the Hoops' resolve over the homegrown star.
Kwon Hyeok-Kyu has had a mixed campaign on loan at Hibs and has been hampered by injury during the second half of the campaign - but may have done enough to convince David Gray to make the deal permanent already.
Odin Thiago Holm faces a career crossroad Stateside having made just two appearances on loan at LAFC. A permanent move away and an early end to the 22-year-old's loan may benefit all parties.
In terms of outgoings,
Johnny Kenny hasn't made his mark on the Celtic top team since the end of his loan at Shamrock Rovers.
Hopes were high for the 21-year-old after his Conference League heroics earlier this season - but he has failed to challenge Daizen Maeda and Adam Idah for a starting spot.
His performances for Rovers earlier this season could tempt a club to splash the cash on a permanent deal.
Estimated fee that can be banked if all sales go through: ÂŁ25m
