Celtic to auction off Madrid friendly strips for charity THE signed strips are to be auctioned off with money raised being ploughed back into international humanitarian charity Concern Worldwide.
CELTIC are to auction off the strips they wore in their glamour friendly with Real Madrid all in the name of charity.
The Hoops players donned jerseys incorporating the logo of leading international humanitarian organisation Concern Worldwide for the match in Philadelphia.
Now they are set to sell them to the highest bidder via the Celtic Charity Fund with monies raised being donated to Concern Worldwide.
Each top has been signed by individual players and they have a reserve price of ÂŁ100.
Peter Lawwell, Chief Executive of Celtic Football Club said, “We’re delighted to host this auction for Concern and expect it to ignite excitement in the Celtic community in Scotland and worldwide. It gives our fans, who are known for their charitable spirit, the opportunity to show their support for the work of Concern while bidding on wonderful pieces of élite sporting memorabilia.”
Jason Cater, Head of Fundraising, Concern Worldwide (UK) said, “We were delighted to be involved in such a huge event in the football calendar and grateful to Celtic Charity Fund for the opportunity.
“Each night 1 in 7 people in the world go to bed hungry and in a plentiful world this is not acceptable. The auction is a novel way for us to raise funds and to highlight the difference that Celtic supporters can make to the lives of those less fortunate.”
